Prayer: Steady

For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes,
And I have walked in Your truth.
Psalm 26:3 (NKJV)
Lord, you know me better than anyone else does. You have searched my thoughts, examined every part of my life, and refined my heart. It is only by your mercy that I stand righteous. As long as I keep my eyes fixed on you, I will never stray.

I want the world to know I am intensely devoted to you, choosing to walk before you in honor. Your faithfulness steadies me. Your holiness reminds me that apart from you, I am nothing. I approach your throne with songs of thanksgiving, awed by the miraculous ways you've changed my life. I owe everything to you.

Look at what you've done for me - I'm not tempted by wickedness and have no desire to hang out with deceptive, conniving people. Establish me as one of your innocent ones, so I will never deviate from this remarkable path of faith. In your glorious presence, I have found my home. Thank you for your love.

Human Life Is Never An Accident

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” Long before your first heartbeat, your first breath, or your first step, you were already known by God.
Jeremiah 1:5 reminds us that human life is never an accident or an afterthought. Before anyone else knew your name, the Creator of the universe did. Before the world placed expectations on you, He’d already seen your life in its entirety. Every joy, every trial, every victory, and every tear was known to Him from the beginning.
This truth gives every human life immeasurable value. Our worth isn’t determined by our achievements, failures, or whether others recognize our significance. It’s grounded in the God who intentionally creates each person in His image and calls them according to His purpose.
If God knew you before you were formed, then He hasn’t forgotten you today. Whatever season you’re walking through, you’re not unseen, overlooked, or abandoned. The same God who knew you before birth still holds your life in His hands - and remains faithful to accomplish His purposes.
You’ve never been a stranger to your Maker. You’ve always been known. You’ve always been passionately loved. And through the radical grace of Jesus, you’re invited to step out of the dark and to intimately know the One who knew you first.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you;
Before you were born I sanctified you;..."
Jeremiah 1:5a (NKJV)

Jesus Wants You To Know...

"Draw near to Me with a thankful heart, aware that your cup is overflowing with blessings. Gratitude enables you to perceive Me more clearly and to rejoice in our Love-relationship. Nothing can separate you from My loving Presence! That is the basis of your security. Whenever you start to feel anxious, remind yourself that your security rests in Me alone, and I am totally trustworthy."
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

Prayer: Author and Finisher of My Faith

The LORD will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
Psalm 138:8

Daily I walk along the path of choosing. Decisions of life and death constantly before me. My choices will either draw me to you or lead me away. Each day I will declare that you are my God and nothing, not even my own selfish desires, will rule my life.

I fall into your arms. Not because I'm weary or defeated, but because I know you are my only hope. You don't want me to strive and take control. You only ask that I rest in you and release every care.

Without you, I'm nothing. Though my mind seeks to know the outcome of every situation, I will trust you. Your love has never failed me. I don't need to understand all of your plans, I only need to believe that they are good. You are the Author and Finisher of my faith. Every one of your faithful promises will come to pass. You will finish the work you've started in me.

Prayer: Entirely Yours

The LORD is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Psalm 103:8 (NKJV)

I was thinking today about how merciful you've been to me. How in spite of all I've done, you kissed my heart with forgiveness. You rescued me from hell and saved my life. When I lost sight of you and ran around in circles feeling alone and confused, you rushed to my side. I don't deserve your tenderhearted love and I don't understand your patience, but I'm thankful for both.

I dedicate myself to you. With all of my heart, I pray there will never be any part of me that is not entirely yours. I want to live a life of celebration, never forgetting your miracle of kindness. You have satisfied my deepest desires with the substance of your love. Sometimes this crown that you've placed on my head feels too big, but I accept the honor of representing you in the earth. I bow before you in wonder - my whole life surrendered to you.

Jesus Wants You To Know...

"I give strength to My people; I bless My people with Peace. 'My people' are all those who trust Me as their Savior-God. My death on the cross for your sins was sufficient to provide everlasting Life because I am truly God. So rest assured that the One who provides eternal Life will also give you strength."

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16

Jesus Wants You To Know...

"I embody not only perfect Love, but all the fullness of the Deity as well. In Me you have everything you could ever need. Feelings of emptiness can serve as signals - reminding you to turn back toward Me. No matter what you are doing, I can be a co-participant with you. As you invite Me into more and more aspects of your life, you will discover a growing contentment within you. In times of adversity you can lean on Me for support; in joyous times you can celebrate with Me. I am as near as a whispered prayer - even nearer. My banner over you is Love."

"Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let His banner over me be love."

Jesus Wants You To Know...

"I want you to learn to be joyful always by connecting your Joy to Me first and foremost. One way of doing this is to remember that I love you at all times and in all circumstances. Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, My unfailing Love for you will not be shaken. So don’t give in to the temptation to doubt My Love when things don’t go as you would like or when you have failed in some way. My loving Presence is the solid rock on which you can always stand - knowing that in Me you are eternally secure."

- "Jesus Always" by Sarah Young

Jesus Wants You To Know...

"Though you may not understand how, I am loving you and I am working in your life. Sometimes My ways are a mystery, but My Love for you is not. It is always perfect and always yours. Rest in this wonderful Love. Rather than trying to control things or think through your problems, close your eyes. Curl up in My Presence. Take a deep breath and let My Love surround you."

"I will look to the Lord for help. I will wait for God to save me. My God will hear me." - Micah 7:7

God Is With You

You may not understand why the burdens press so hard or why the world seems louder than your prayers. Yet God sees every tear, He hears every sigh, and He is gently holding you in His presence. Let your mind rest on Him, not on the chaos around you, for He is your peace.

Do not measure your worth by what you accomplish or how others respond to you. God loves you simply because you are His. Bring Him your confusion and your doubts and let Him whisper truth into your heart. When you feel small and insignificant, remember that He is working through you in ways you cannot yet see.
Take a deep breath and feel His Spirit breathe life into your weary soul. God is your refuge, your comfort, your constant companion. When you feel alone, He is closer than your next heartbeat. Trust Him with the parts of yourself you are afraid to show. Let Him transform your fear into faith, your sorrow into hope, and your doubt into trust.
Rest in His love today. You do not need to rush to fix everything or make sense of all the pain. He is enough for every moment and He is enough for you. Walk slowly with Him, trusting that He is guiding your steps even when the path feels uncertain. Let your heart stay tender and open, for His presence is your true home.
Life has a way of wearing you down. The days are long and the nights can feel even longer when you lie awake wondering how things will ever change. Yet God’s presence is not measured by the brightness of your circumstances or the ease of your path. His nearness is not dependent on what you do or how much you accomplish. He is present in the ordinary, the mundane, the unnoticed moments. When you pour a cup of coffee, when you fold laundry, when you take a quiet walk outside, God is with you. When you feel invisible, when the world seems to pass by without notice, God is noticing. Every heartbeat, every breath, every tear is precious to Him.
You do not need to carry everything on your own. The world tells you to be strong, to hide your pain, to keep going no matter how heavy the weight feels. But God calls you to something different. He calls you to rest in Him. He calls you to come as you are, not as you think you should be. He calls you to trust Him with what you cannot fix and to surrender the parts of yourself that feel broken or unworthy. This is not weakness. It is courage. It takes courage to admit that you are not enough on your own to place your burdens in God’s hands and to allow Him to lead you through uncertainty.

Made To Be Good, Not Just Feel Good

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And in His word I do hope.
Psalm 130:5 (NKJV)

The challenges kept coming. Just when I thought I was recovering and getting back up on my feet after one hardship, another difficulty would come crashing in and send me right back to my knees.

Financial insecurity.
Relational stress.
Struggling children.
Professional uncertainty.
Illness.

I couldn’t catch my breath. There wasn’t a direction I could look and find peace, abundant life, or the provision I felt God had promised me.

These struggles aren’t unique, and the urge to give up when everything feels overwhelming is something we all experience. So what do we do when we want to quit? When we feel like we’re in over our heads and our emotions are screaming, You are never going to make it through this?

Personally, I like to take the easiest route. A venting call with a friend helps for a moment. Or I’ll try out the latest productivity hack that will pull my head above water for a couple of days. I might even get really disciplined and go for a “30-Day Reset” plan I saw online, which sometimes gives me a few weeks of reprieve.

But honestly, none of these tricks brings lasting change.

The only place I have found true strength and hope to carry me through the toughest of days is in the promises of our all-knowing, all-powerful God.

Maybe today you’re facing impossibilities like I am, and maybe your feelings are screaming at you to lie down and quit. Let me remind you of what God promises in His holy, perfect Word. He promises He will …

  • Give you eternal life in Christ (John 5:24).

  • Love you forever (Psalm 136).

  • Make you more like Him through the work of the Holy Spirit (John 14:26).

  • Give you peace (Philippians 4:6-7).

  • Work all things out for good (Romans 8:28).

And so much more.

Those are good promises, but I want to take a step back and see something that’s not promised. In all the words of the Bible, God doesn’t promise a comfortable, easy life on earth, and He doesn’t promise to give us all we want.

What He promises is to give us His enduring love and to work all things out for good. It’s not that things always feel good, but they will be good … There’s a big difference. To be good is to be like Christ, displaying the fruit of the Spirit. Feeling good comes and goes; being good lasts forever.

The challenges I’m facing haven’t changed. Even as I write this, I’m tempted to give up. But Psalm 130:5 tells me what to do: “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope …”

Today, instead of just venting to a friend or trying another productivity hack, I’m choosing to believe God's Word instead of my feelings. I'm letting Him use the waiting to make me good, not just comfortable.

Lord, in my waiting, help me trust Your Word more than my feelings. Make me more like You, even when it’s hard. I choose to hope in You today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jesus Wants You To Know...

When you share your struggles with Me, I’ll hold you close and fill you with My sweet Peace. You don’t have to pretend that everything is okay. You can be real with Me - and with yourself. Then you can rest in the safety of My Presence, trusting that I understand you perfectly and that I love you with an everlasting Love.

"People, trust God all the time. Tell him all your problems. God is our protection." - Psalm 62:8 (ICB) - "Jesus Always for Kids" by Sarah Young

Jesus Wants You To Know...

"I draw you with gentle cords, with bands of Love. These Love-cords keep you connected to Me; they also help you discern the way you should go. Though My bands of Love are unbreakable, they do not curtail your freedom. These highly elastic bands allow you to go your own way for a while. However, even if they are stretched out for a long time - as you seek to live independently of Me - they retain their drawing power. Eventually, when you grow weary of worldly ways, the cords draw you gently back to Me. No matter how far you have roamed, I welcome you with unfailing Love." I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love, and I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them. - Hosea 11:4 NKJV - "Jesus Lives" by Sarah Young

Combating The Unreliable Narrator Within

“The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

I’m a words girl. Always have been, always will be. Whether it’s reading or writing, stories have always been a part of my DNA. In recent years, I’ve found myself drawn to plotlines full of twists and turns I could never predict, an effect sometimes created through an unreliable narrator.

An unreliable narrator is a storyteller who is not completely trustworthy, either intentionally (because they’re lying) or unintentionally (because they don’t know what is true). While this makes for a creative literary device, it can be treacherous when applied to real life.

Here’s what I mean …

From the time we’re born, the world begins applying labels to us. Some are lovingly given - others not so much. And while true and well-intentioned words often tiptoe in with a gentle whisper, lies and mean-spirited labels seem to march in with trumpet fanfare and make themselves at home. If we’re not careful, we become the unreliable narrator of our own story, not knowing what is true. We may live from the faulty core belief that we are, in fact, ugly. Incompetent. Unworthy of love. (Insert your chosen lie here.)

With each lie we believe, we shrink down in our soul just a little bit more, certain God Himself must view us in the same way.

But let’s consider these words from God's prophet Zephaniah: “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).

When I read this verse, I don’t see a God who looks on us with disgust. Instead, I see One who unashamedly loves His children despite our flaws. One who delights in us so deeply He can’t help but burst into song.

That God is our Creator, the Author of who we are. And as our Author, despite any lies we may believe about ourselves, only He gets to determine what’s true.

Throughout the pages of Scripture, He says we are:

  • Created in His image (Genesis 1:27).

  • Chosen (Ephesians 1:4).

  • Wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

  • Accepted (Romans 15:7).

  • Loved (John 3:16).

  • Worth dying for (Romans 5:8).

If He says all these things, among many others, about us, who are we to say otherwise?

Today, let’s stop the unreliable narration. Let’s hold our heads high and listen to the only voice that matters: the voice of God, our Author.

Father, in the sea of voices surrounding us, help us to focus on Your voice and the words You speak over us. Help us to live from the truth of who You say we are, created and loved by You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God Gets It

God gets it. He really does. He knows we aren’t perfect. From the very beginning, He understood that we would stumble, that our strength would fail, that our hearts would wander. And instead of leaving us to our own brokenness, He built the bridge back to Himself.
That bridge has a name: Jesus.
Through Him, every gap is covered, every failure redeemed, every distance crossed. God didn’t just look down at our weakness and shake His head. He stepped into it. He carried it. He bore it. And in doing so, He made a way where there was no way.
He’s not going to throw that all away. The cross was not temporary. His love is not fragile. Grace isn’t something He dangles like a prize for the perfect. It is a gift, steady and unshaken, because it rests on His character, not ours.
When you fall short, and you will, remember this: God isn’t surprised. He knows. And still He calls you His own. Still He welcomes you. Still He offers mercy that is new every morning.
So stop being afraid that one mistake will undo it all. The bridge still stands. The blood still speaks. The love of God still reaches farther than your flaws.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
God gets it. And He’s not letting go of you

How Can God Be Good If I Feel This Broken?

I know you’re in pain. I know it feels impossible to lift your eyes when your body aches, when your heart feels raw, when your soul feels like it’s on fire. I know what it is to beg God for healing and to wake up still hurting. I know what it is to wonder, “How can God be good if I feel this broken?”
The truth is, you don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to be strong all the time. Loving Jesus in the middle of suffering doesn’t always look like joy or bold faith. Sometimes it looks like tears streaming down your face as you whisper, “I still need You.” Sometimes it’s just holding on by the edge of your fingernails. That, too, is love.
Jesus isn’t asking you to fake it. He isn’t asking you to put on a mask. He isn’t disappointed in your weakness. He knows. He felt the weight of agony, the sting of unanswered cries. On the cross, He Himself cried out, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken Me?” He knows what it’s like to feel abandoned in the pain.
And yet, He stayed. He endured. Because His love for you was greater than His suffering.
So even now, when your body is tired and your soul feels scorched, His love holds you. His goodness isn’t proven by the absence of pain but by His refusal to leave you in it. He is closer than your own breath, even when you can’t sense Him.
If all you can do is breathe His name, that is enough. If all you can do is let your tears fall in His presence, that is worship. You don’t have to fix yourself to be loved by Him.
You are safe to fall apart in the arms of Jesus. And when you can’t take another step, He will carry you.
Because His goodness doesn’t change with your circumstances. His goodness is nailed into history by a cross and sealed forever by an empty tomb.

Even here, even now, you are not alone.
