Answering The Call And Taking The Next Step

Scripture consistently presents salvation as something God initiates, provides, and makes entirely possible through His mercy. At the same time, it also portrays human beings as creatures capable of responding to this grace with trust, obedience, and love.
This tension is described as “synergism”- the view that while God is the source of salvation and spiritual transformation, human beings aren't passive spectators. His divine grace invites, awakens, and empowers, but the human heart must choose whether or not it'll respond. The invitation is genuine, and so is the responsibility.
Faith requires a movement of the will - not simple intellectual agreement, but a personal act of trust. A willingness to step beyond self-reliance and into the life God offers. Grace opens the door, but faith walks through it. This highlights the dignity with which He created us and gives us. Love and relationship can't be coerced. God desires willing communion, not mechanical compliance. We see this all throughout Scripture, as He continually calls, invites, and beckons people toward Himself, while honoring the reality of human choice.
Everything begins with God's initiative, yet every person is invited to participate in that divine work. The path is prepared, the invitation is extended, and the grace is freely given. The only question is whether we'll answer the call and take the next step.

When The Flesh Wins

Let’s talk about the part of Christianity most people won’t…
What happens when you fail?
When the flesh wins.
When you fall back into something you thought God already delivered you from.
Those moments.
I love Jesus. I really do.
I seek Him. I pray. I open His Word. I want my life to reflect Him. But if you follow my content, I want you to understand something about me…
I’m not perfect.
There are days I struggle.
Days where my flesh gets the better of me.
Days where I walk away from a moment thinking,
“Lord… I should have handled that differently.”
And I’ll be honest…
There are days my flesh wins battles I wish it didn’t. And in those moments the enemy loves to whisper, “See? You’re not who you say you are.”
But here’s something I’ve learned through my failures… Those moments are exactly what the gospel is about.
The gospel was never for people who never fall. It’s for people who fall… and realize they desperately need a Savior. It’s for the person who runs back to God after messing up and says…
“Lord, without Your mercy I have nothing.”
My failures don’t make me run from Christ.
They make me run to Him. Because every time I fall short, I’m reminded of something powerful…
I was never saved because of my perfection. I was saved because of His grace. So if you follow my page thinking I’ve got it all figured out…
I don’t.
I’m just a flawed human being who loves Jesus and keeps getting back up, running to the cross.
The cross wasn’t built for people who have it all together, It was built for people like me who don’t. Author: Ryan Teaford

The Beating Of Jesus

Let’s talk about the beating of Jesus.
Not the soft version many people imagine.
The real one.
Because the cross did not start at Calvary.
The suffering began long before the nails ever touched His hands.
When Jesus was handed over to be crucified, the Roman soldiers first scourged Him.
This was not a simple whipping.
The Romans used a weapon called a flagrum or flagellum. It was a whip with multiple leather strands. At the end of each strand were pieces of bone, metal, and sharp hooks designed to tear flesh.
The purpose was not just punishment.
It was destruction of the body.
The victim was tied to a post, stretched so the back was exposed. Each strike caused the metal and bone to dig into the skin. When the whip was pulled back, it ripped flesh away from the body.
Early historians and medical researchers describe that Roman scourging often exposed muscle tissue and sometimes even bone.
Isaiah prophesied this hundreds of years before it happened.
Isaiah 52:14 says
His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being.
Think about that.

Dirty Dogs

Scripture:
Be careful of those who do evil. They are like dogs. They demand to cut the body.
- Philippians 3:2

Reflect:
Are there “dogs” in our day? Why should we be so concerned about them?

In our society today, dogs are generally thought of as beloved pets. They even get referred to as “man’s best friend.” And in many homes dogs are treated like family members.

These are not the type of dog that Paul is referring to in today’s verses. Paul is likely referring to a wild dog that lived on the streets scavenging dead bodies. Not only were these dogs aggressive and potentially violent but they were also carriers of nasty infections. They were unclean and problematic thus they were generally hated. These dogs were pests, not pets.

In today’s verse, Paul is comparing false teachers, specifically the Judaizers, to these mangy animals. The Judaizers taught that saving faith was not sufficient for salvation. They mixed the law with grace and said that Gentiles must become Jews before they can convert to Christianity. They argued that it was necessary for Gentiles to practice circumcision.  That’s why he says to watch out for those who “mutilate the flesh.” Circumcision does not secure anyone’s salvation.

Paul doesn’t mince his words here. He calls them evildoers for spreading this false doctrine. His point is that these false teachers weren’t merely an annoyance. They were dangerous!

Even today, we have dirty dogs among us. We have false teachers who preach legalism just as the Judaizers did in Paul’s day. They may not be claiming that you have to get circumcised to be saved or convert to Judaism, but the heart of their message is still the same. They are implying that what Jesus did on the cross was not sufficient. They are claiming that you have to add works to His grace in order for it to be effective. This doctrine is dangerous because people’s souls are on the line!

Maybe someone has told you that you have to get baptized in order to be saved. Or that you have to tithe a certain amount each month. Maybe you’ve been told you must go to church or take a mission trip. Perhaps someone has preached that dietary restrictions are necessary. But we know from Ephesians 2:8-9 that we are saved by grace, through faith and not by works. Salvation is a gift from God. We accept His grace, and we are saved. Our good works and obedience are the result of a transformed life. We seek to please God with our actions because we love Him, not because we are trying to earn our salvation.

Whenever you hear “grace plus works” preached, run away! Avoid this message like you would avoid a dirty dog in the street. Legalism does not save you and it has the potential to do much harm. It can cause a nasty infection in your faith and sadly, it is contagious. It can be passed to those around you. So be on the lookout for false teachers. Read the Word of God daily to inoculate you against the diseases of false doctrine. And instead of spreading filth, spread the truth! Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those around you.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the free gift of salvation through Jesus. Please grant me the wisdom and discernment to be able to recognize the dogs who are spreading false teaching so I can avoid them. Give me the courage to spread the truth of Your Word instead. Amen.

New Life

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
2 Corinthians 5:17

Christians are brand-new people on the inside. The Holy Spirit gives them new life, and they are not the same anymore. We are not reformed, rehabilitated, or reeducated - we are re-created (new creations), living in vital union with Christ (Colossians 2:6,7). At conversion we do not merely turn over a new leaf; we begin a new life under a new Master.

You do not become a Christian by asking Jesus into your heart. You become a Christian when you are born again. Jesus said, “Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Saying a prayer or making a public commitment or signing a decision card will not save you. Only being born again will do that. The apostle Paul said that when you are “in Christ,” the old things pass away. In the moment of your salvation, every sin you ever committed is forgiven. Healing for every hurt you have ever suffered is available. Love and acceptance are yours despite every failure you have ever experienced. Your past, no matter how difficult or painful, is completely and thoroughly provided for.

Some will seek to diminish the awesome reality of your spiritual rebirth. You will hear them say, “Even though you're now a Christian, you must still undergo years of counseling to overcome the hurts you've experienced” or “You may be born again, but you'll continue to struggle with your sin, and hopefully you will eventually gain victory in areas of your weakness.”

The problem is that we seek changes by our own will rather than by turning our lives over in faith to the One who has given us new life. The profound testimony of Scripture is that the blood of Jesus Christ and the death of the Son of God is sufficient to completely free you from your sin. Satan will seek to convince you that it is not. Whom will you believe?

Am I Really Saved?

𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗱?
First let us understand what salvation is.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?
Firstly, we need to talk about salvation. If we do not have a scriptural understanding of salvation, how can we know whether we truly have it? Salvation is simply the deliverance from sin through faith in Jesus Christ. A person is truly saved when He accepts that he is a sinner, repents for his sins, and by faith, accepts the free gift of salvation made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross as revealed in the Bible.

𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
To know whether you are saved, you need to look at yourself in the light of the Scriptures. If you are sure that you have repented of your sins, and believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross for your sins, you will doubtless see the following evidence in your life.

Once saved, the Bible says we are new creations in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). We are no longer slaves of sin. Jesus has set us free not only from the condemnation and effects of sin, but also from the power of sin over us.

How Do I Become A Christian?

if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
𝗘𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
Realizing how to become a Christian is the most important discovery of your life! Becoming a Christian is more than joining a church or saying a prayer. It is a personal relationship that will last for eternity. Do you know what will happen to you the moment you die? Where will you find yourself? Where is your destination?
There are only two destinations - and both are eternal: You will either find yourself living for eternity in heaven or existing for eternity in hell. Where will you be?
𝗘𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻 - This destination is reserved for those who receive Jesus Christ's gift of eternal salvation. Contrary to popular belief, heaven is not for the church-goers, the devout, or the "good people." The only stipulation is receiving God's gift of salvation.
𝗘𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹 is reserved for those who reject Jesus Christ and His Gospel. The Bible sums up the Gospel like this: : "...That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Hell is described in the Bible as a fiery lake of burning sulfur.

The Bible explains how to become a Christian in very simple terms:
▪️ 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗱 and can not live up to God's standard of holiness. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
▪️ 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵. Romans 6:23 states: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
▪️ 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in our place, so we could be spared from hell. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." According to the Bible, we aren't required to subscribe to a religious formula or do more good things than bad ones. God gives His gift freely to all who ask. "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).

Once you discover how to become a Christian and then accept God's gift, the Bible says that you can be 100 percent assured of your eternal designation.
1 John 5:11-13 says, "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲."
Do you know for sure that you will spend eternal life with God in heaven? If not, this is a decision you don't want to put off.

The "prayer of salvation" is the most important prayer we'll ever pray.
When we're ready to become a Christian, we're ready to have our first real conversation with God, and these are its components:
▪️ We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is God; that He came to earth as a man in order to live the sinless life that we cannot live; that He died in our place, so that we would not have to pay the penalty we deserve.
▪️ We confess our past life of sin - living for ourselves and not obeying God.
▪️ We admit we are ready to trust Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord.
▪️ We ask Jesus to come into our heart, take up residence there, and begin living through us.
